Challenge

When contractors, temporary workers, or several departments work in the same place, hazards arise that no one can oversee alone: crane work above other people's workplaces, welding next to hazardous substance stores, simultaneous work on the same system. Section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG) and Section 6 DGUV Regulation 1 oblige the employers involved to cooperate and, in the case of special hazards, to appoint a coordinator. Many serious accidents involving contractors can be traced back to a lack of coordination.
