Challenge

Falls from ladders and step stools are among the most common occupational accidents and, despite the low height, often result in serious injuries. TRBS 2121 Part 2 significantly restricts the use of ladders as workplaces: above a standing height of two meters only for short-term work, above five meters not at all. Damaged ladders, an incorrect angle of inclination, and leaning out are the typical causes of accidents.

Learning objectives
  • Your employees know the rules of TRBS 2121 Part 2 and when ladders may no longer be used.
  • Your employees select the right ladder or step stool for the task.
  • Your employees check ladders for damage before each use and know about the regular inspection.
  • Your employees set up leaning ladders and stepladders securely: ground, angle of inclination, extension above the landing point, securing.
  • Your employees behave safely on the ladder: three points of contact, no leaning out, no standing on the top rungs.
